Cherries

SOUR - ON EITHER MAZZARD OR MAHALEB ROOTSTOCK

Montmorency:  Ripens in Mid-July.   Hardy to zone 5.  This tart cherry variety has long been recognized as the standard of the industry.  Montmorency is planted throughout North America and is considered the best tart cherry for the processing market.  The fruit is bright red, medium in size, with a clear juicy flesh.  The trees are self fruitful, winter hardy and very productive.

 

Cherries (AVAILABLE FOR SPRING 2012)

Regina: (Jork 57/201 Cultivar) - High quality, large dark red firm fruit. Mild sweet flavor. Holds well in storage. Exceptional tolerance to splitting. Blooms lates. Ripens 16 days after Bing. USPP #11530.

WhiteGold®: Emperor Francis x Stella cross. Yellow skin blushed with red. Firm yellow flesh with great flavor. It is extremely hardy and very productive. Resists cracking and bacterial canker. Ripens 3 days after Bing. Self-fertile. Mid to late season bloom. Zones 4-8. USPP #18892.

enton®: (PC 7146-8) Is a mid-season, premier-quality dark red sweet cherry. Similar to Bing in appearance, it is large with excellent firmness and superior flavor. Blooms later than Bing. Self-fertile. Consistently crops well. Zones 5-8. USPP #15847.

lackgold®: Stella x Gold cross. Dark red, large firm fruit. Blooms late. Resists cracking. Is a high yielding variety. This variety is self-fertile. Good pollinator for late blooming varieties. Ripens just ahead of Hedelfinger, 7 days after Bing. Canker resistant. Zones 4-8. USPP #17301.

lackPearl®: NY8139 - Is an early cherry with exceptional firmness and storability. Ripens 8-10 days before Bing. It has exceptional flavor and resistant to cracking. It keeps better than almost any other cherry. Skin color is very dark. Early season bloom. The tree is hardy, vigorous and upright.

urgundyPearl™: NY38L - Is a large mid-season dark red cherry that is firm with great quality. It ripens 3 to 5 days before Bing and has a long harvest period. It has good flavor. Early to mid-season bloom. The tree is productive, vigorous, hardy and resistant to canker.

EbonyPearl™: NY32 - Mid-season cherry that ripens 1-3 days before Bing. The fruit is dark red with good flavor. It is moderately firm and crunchy and is crack resistant. The stems are long and securely attached. Early to mid-season bloom. The tree is hardy, vigorous and resistant to canker.

udson: Oswego x Giant. Medium large, black fruit with very firm, sweet flesh and good flavor. Crack resistant. Hangs well and keeps in good condition. Large, open, hardy productive tree. Ripens late.

 

Cherries

Gisela® 6: A semi-dwarf rootstock that produces a tree 65-90% the size of Mazzard. Produces a very precocious, well-anchored, hardy tree that seems to do well on a wide range of soils. It appears tolerant to many cherry viruses and is not prone to suckering. Fruit size is good and holds up well with heavy cropping. USPP #8954. Available for 2012.

Gisela® 12: This cherry rootstock produces a very precocious tree about 85-95% the size of Mazzard. The tree structure is open, spreading and stocky. It is well anchored and does well in wide range of soil types. It resists suckering. USPP #9631. Available for 2012.

Mahaleb: Produces a standard size tree. It is cold hardy, drought tolerant and highly productive. This commercial rootstock is the best choice for very well drained orchard ground.

Mazzard: Produces a vigorous tree with very good anchorage. More tolerant of heavier ground than Mahaleb. As with all cherry rootstocks, a well drained ground is necessary.
